Maersk adds ship, ports to North Europe/Med loop

2008-4-3

Maersk Line is set to introduce a fifth ship and calls at Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Aarhus in Denmark to its North Europe/Mediterranean Scan Med service.

A previous export call from Felixstowe is being dropped due to "ongoing congestion" in the British port, enabling the Danish to "maintain the integrity of the service."

The vessel Maersk Ankara will on April 6 start the revised Scan Med rotation in Gioia Tauro, Italy, before going on to call Rotterdam, Felixstowe, Bremerhaven, Gothenburg, Aarhus, Bremerhaven, Antwerp, Piraeus, Ambarli, Haydarpasa, Izmir and back to Gioia Tauro. The service will use five vessels in the 2,200 to 2,500-TEU range.
