APL reports volume, revenues increase

Neptune Orient Lines, parent company of APL, said container shipping volumes and rates continue to see double-digit increases over comparable 2007 figures, according to its latest operational update.


For the four weeks ending April 4, NOL said the company handled the equivalent of 396,600 TEUs, 13 percent more than in the comparable 2007 period. Average rates were $1,465 per TEU, up 13 percent over the same 2007 period.


For the year to date, volumes are up 14 percent, while average freight rates are up 16 percent.
