Port of Shanghai's container throughput rose 17.9 per cent to a new monthly record of 2.39 million TEU, Logistics Week reported.
Yangshan port area's throughput surged 65.5 per cent to 695,000 TEU. The overall cargo tonnage of Shanghai Port in March rose 15.8 per cent to 33 million tons. Foreign trade rose 15.8 per cent to 21.8 million tons.
During the first quarter, Shanghai's cumulative volume increased 12.2 per cent to 6.6 million tons. Cumulated throughput in terms of tonnage rose 8.8 per cent to 89.1 million tons. Foreign trade rose 11.5 per cent to 59.7 million tons. Yangshan port area's throughput soared 49.1 per cent to 1.82 million TEU.
