In January-March, 2008, Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 3.559 million tonnes of cargo (+16.1%, year-on-year), PortNews IAA learnt from the company. In the reported period, the port handled 52,179 wagons and 131 vessels. In March, the company's throughput grew by 3%, year-on-year, to 1.283 million tonnes. In March the company handled 17,184 wagons including 12,235 wagons with coal, and 50 vessels. Transshipment of export cargo fell by 1% to 1.164 million tonnes including 898,500 tonnes of coal, 168,000 tonnes of apatite, 27,200 tonnes of non-ferrous metal. Transshipment of general cargo totaled 94,800 tonnes (99.8% against the results of the previous year), dry bulk cargo-1.188.2 million tonnes (+3.7% against March 2007).
