The Container Corporation of India (Concor) has raised freight rates on containers moving between Kolkata port and the Haldia dock) and Birganj inland container depot located in Nepal.
For movement between Netaji Subhas dock of Kolkata and Birganj ICD, the revised rates are: up to 15 tonnes, Rs 19,514 per TEU, up Rs 1,245 per TEU; between 15 and 20 tonnes, the new rate is Rs 21,070 per TEU, up Rs 1,245 per TEU; and between 20 and 30 tonnes at Rs 25,944 per TEU, up Rs 1,660 per TEU. The rate for a 40-ft container has been increased by Rs 1,090 to Rs 35,963.
The corresponding rates from Haldia dock of Kolkata are: up to 15 tonnes, Rs 23,844 per TEU, up Rs 1,767 per TEU; between 15 and 20 tonnes, Rs 25,267 per TEU, up Rs 1,634 per TEU; and between 20 and 30 tonnes, Rs 30,709 per TEU, up Rs 2,202 per TEU. For a 40-ft container, the revised rate is Rs 45,257, up Rs 2,898.
The rates cover rail transportation of loaded containers as well as empties on the route, handling of empties and the delivery of empties at the shipping line's plot by road at Kolkata.
