Textainer Group Holdings, a company engaged in the operation of intermodal containers, declared it was re-entering the refrigerated container market, announcing that it had ordered 800 40-foot high cube reefer boxes with Carrier and Daikin machinery to be delivered later this month.
Textainer CEO John Maccarone said his Bermuda-based company, had re-entered the market at the right time due to attractive prices for new reefer containers, and the expectation that customers may choose to lease a larger percentage of their total reefer requirements.
Mr Maccarone also said that the company could place at least US$30 million worth of reefers into attractive long-term leases in 2008, which would increase capital expenditure by about 10 per cent above original budget, reported RTT News, Global Financial Newswires.
