Virginia Port Authority to buy US$41.7 million in straddle carriers

The Virginia Port Authority is prepared to spend US$41.7 million for 44 electric eco-friendly straddle carriers for two terminals at Norfolk and Portsmouth, reported the Newport News Daily Press.

According to a resolution before the port commissioners, plans are afoot to purchase the straddle carriers from three vendors. The terminals could purchase 10 immediately the remaining ones are subject to an appropriation bill passed by from Virginia legislature.
