Emirates Shipping Line has acquired slots on a joint weekly service of United Arab Shipping Co. (UASC) and Hanjin Shipping between ports in the Indian subcontinent, Middle East and West Mediterranean.
The Dubai-registered carrier joined the Mediterranean India Express (MIX) on Jan. 18. The service uses 11 ships averaging about 2,400 TEUs and extends to the U.S. East Coast with a full port rotation of: New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Valencia, Genoa, Alexandria, Jeddah, Khor Fakkan, Karachi, Pipavav, Nhava Sheva, Jebel Ali, Jeddah, Alexandria, La Spezia, Marseilles-Fos, Barcelona, Valencia and New York.
Like Emirates, Hanjin affiliate Senator Lines only takes space on the Mediterranean/Middle East/Indian subcontinent section.
"We are pleased to have added this service option to our portfolio as it meets customers" surging demands for these highly competitive regions. Participation in this service represents an integral part of our regional strategy in expanding Emirates" global network," said Vikas Khan, Emirates chairman and chief executive officer.
