Rotterdam is the first port in Europe to handle 10 million TEU in a single year, port authorities claim.
To mark the occasion, the port's 10 millionth container was taken off a ship bound for Indonesia in November and filled with sports supplies from the aid organisation Right to Play that helps children who have been victims of violence, disaster and poverty.
