Two container berths near complete at Russia's Ust-Luga CT

2007-12-17

Russian terminal operator National Container Company (NCC) says it aims to complete the construction of two new berths, with a total length of 440 metres, at its Ust-Luga container terminal before the end of the year.

The company has invested US$30 million in building the two berths at the Ust-Luga seaport, 130 kilometres from St Petersburg.

NCC said in a statement that it commenced construction of the sea container terminal at the port of Ust-Luga in April, which started with the building of a pile foundation for the two berths. Dredging alongside is scheduled to be finished in 2008, and the company said the terminal will be ready to go live in early 2009 as expected.
