80 large transport projects to be realized in Kazakhstan till 2015

About 80 large projects amounting to USD 30 bln will be realized in the republic within the framework of the Kazakhstan's Transport Strategy for the period until 2015.

Minister of Transport and Communication of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov has made it public today in Astana during the VI session of the TRASECA intergovernmental commission, Kazinform reports ac RZD-Partner.

"About 1600 km of new railways and 2700 km of railroads will be constructed and electrified for the complex development of the Kazakh transport network. 50 000 km of highways will be constructed and reconstructed", the Kazakh Minister added.

"One of these large projects is West Europe-West China international transit corridor. It is the shortest way between the Central Asian and Europe states. Beineu - Zhezkazgan (1020 km) and Korgas-Zhetigen (298 km) roads will be constructed in the railway industry", Mr. Akhmetov underlined.
