2007-12-12

Dioryx Maritime, headed by Mr. D.Papadimitriou announced the signing of long term timecharter contracts for four Panamax container vessels which clients of Dioryx Maritime have ordered at Hyundai Heavy Industries. The vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2010. The charters are for 10 years, with further options from both sides and include the innovative use of a profit share element on two of the vessels. In return for giving a rate to STX Panocean at a discounted level compared to today’s market, there is an agreement to share any uplift over and above the agreed base rate. The market rate for these vessels will be independently assessed on an annual basis and any increase from the charter rate will be shared between the owners and charterers. Both Mr. C.I.Yu of STX Panocean and Mr. Papadimitriou of Dioryx Maritime said they are very pleased to enter into a long term relationship between similarly forward thinking and prestigious companies and they look to a long, fruitful and extended relationships together.

Athens-based Dioryx Maritime has evolved into one of the heavy investors in the newbuilding market of containers, by contracting a number of vessels during the last months. The company is reportedly the owner of no less than 13 vessels, 10 of which are expected to be delivered between 2008 and 2010. Shipyards contracted include Hanjin Philippines, Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hyundai Samho. The latest orders include larger vessels in terms of deadweight (53,600 against 51,400-dwt of previous orders), while carrying capacity is similar, standing at 4,300 TEUs. Four of the vessels are expected to list in the Hellenic Registry.
