Venezuela's government will take control of the Puerto Cabello port authority (IPAPC) in December, authority president Genis Vargas said.
He said all ports, airports, rail systems, highways and other strategic organisms will soon be under government control upon approval of the constitutional reform to be voted in December, in which Vargas expects categorical and resounding approval.
Officials from IPAPC will meet this week to discuss how the new system will work and determine the port's new project development area.
The idea at Puerto Cabello is to separate the port area from the shipyard, and add more infrastructure. IPAPC expects to build a container terminal in order to free up more movement in other areas of the port.
