Ningbo-EU trade rises 36 pc in first 10 months

From January to October, Ningbo's trade with Europe Union rose 36.2 per cent year on year to US$11 billion, amounting to 23.8 per cent of the city's total trade, Xinhua reported.

Imports increased 30 per cent to $1.5 billion and exports were up 37 per cent to $9.6 billion, generating a trade surplus of $8.1 billion which grew 38.7 per cent year on year and amounted to 48 per cent of the city's trade surplus.

During the same period, the US was the second largest trading partner of Ningbo with trade value up 29.9 per cent to $9.9 billion.

Exports went up 27 per cent up to $8.2 billion, imports rose 45.6 per cent to $1.6 billion, generating a trade surplus of $6.6 billion, which rose 23.2 year on year.

Value of processing trade products rose 29.9 per cent to $7.6 billion, representing 77 per cent of the Ningbo-US trade total.

Ningbo's trade with Hong Kong doubled in value to $2.1 billion over the same period last year. Imports increased 29 per cent to $162 million while exports soared 110 per cent to $1.98 billion, generating a trade surplus of $1.8 billion.

Processing trade product value surged 160 per cent to $1.4 billion, accounting for 66 per cent of the total of Ningbo's trade with Hong Kong.
