LCL establishes cold store JV in Vietnam

2007-11-2

Ho Chi Minh City-based general forwarding & agency corporation, Gemadept, Antwerp-based warehousing specialist, Molenbergnatie NV, and Stockholm-based logistics company, LCL, have signed an agreement to establish a joint venture in Vietnam.

The JV will service a dual purpose: to build a cold store, and to establish a logistics service company in Vietnam.

An area of more than three hectares has been acquired in Long Hau IP for the location of the new cold store, which will have a capacity of up to 18,000 pallets in temperatures as low as minus 25 deg.C.

This facility, the Viet Nam Cold Stores (VNCS), will be operational by the third quarter of 2008.

All other supporting services, such as inspections, repacking and cross-docking will also be offered.

The logistics service company will provide services to importers and exporters in Vietnam as well as abroad under the name LCL Viet Nam, and will be part of the global LCL office network.
