GAC opens central eastern Europe logistics office in Prague

2007-11-19

Shipping, logistics and marine services provider GAC has opened a new regional logistics office in Prague, Czech Republic, to develop the group's logistics network in central and eastern Europe (CEE).

"The growing economies of central and eastern Europe have great potential for the development of logistics services, particularly air, sea and overland services," said Gunnar Lundgren, regional logistics manager for Europe, the Mediterranean and Africa (EMAF).

"Part of our customer base is either manufacturing or trading in central and eastern Europe so it is natural for GAC to open a regional logistics office there."

A GAC statement said Mr Lundgren, who has moved from Egypt, will continue to be responsible for spearheading GAC's logistics business in the EMAF region, but he will focus on developing the business in central and eastern European countries. Mr Lundgren is also responsible for developing and implementing regional sales strategies, reviewing service standards and building relations with key customers.

The new regional logistics office is supported in CEE by offices in Poland and Russia which offer freight forwarding and distribution services. GAC added it aims to increase its presence in CEE by forging partnerships with other logistics services providers in the region.
