The company would like to inform the investing public that after a meeting with the owners/sellers of the 8 additional tankers that the Company bought recently, Chairman of Ocean Tankers Holdings Public Company Limited managed to secure the sellers' commitment in order to keep the same crews in all tankers on a permanent basis. This reduces the risk of finding new and skillful crews. The Company would spend time and money, given that all crews must be well-trained and specialized to staff the tankers ICE 1A CLASS.The existing crews are skillful and this is proved via the inspection reports carried out by inspectors on behalf of the Company before its decision to purchase the 8 additional tankers. The tankers and their crews are already authorized by the well-known international oil organizations (OIL MAJORS), such as LUKOIL, BP, SHELL, EXXON, STATOIL, REPSOL, CHEVTEX.
The advantages from the Company's decision to keep the existing crews in the 8 additional tankers are the following:
1. The existing crews are fully trained and specialized in the systems and machinery of the existing tankers and the Company will not be burdened by an additional cost for their training.
2. The training of the existing crews secures a smooth and effective management of the ships to the Company's and the charterer's interests.
3. It is noted that 60-65% of the operating cost of a tanker is the cost of crews. This means that the skillful and well-trained crews secure the effective and profitable course of the Company, since 80% of the accidents and mechanical problems are due to a human mistake.
