The container line that runs from eastern China's port of Huaian to Nanjing's Longtan Container Terminal has commenced operation, Logistics Week reported.
This is the first container shipping line on the North-Jiangsu Canal, which is a section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal within Jiangsu province.
The line currently offers a sailing every five days and will be upgraded to every two days starting from December. It is said to be 30 per cent lower in cost compared to road transportation.
