TransContainer and Schenker to Transport Componentry
POSTED: 10:02 a.m. EDT, June 16,2007
TransContainer, JSC and the German company Schenker, the subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG, signed the memorandum concerning the collaboration in the frame work of the Volkswagen's componentry transportation project. This was announced by Petr Baskakov, general director of TransContainer at the exhibition Transport Logistic - 2007 held in Munich.

In March of the current year Volkswagen announced the tender on supplying componentry for VW Passat, VW Tuareg and Skoda from Koshitze (Slovakia) and Mlada-Bolislava (Czechia) to Kaluga (Russia). In 2008 Volkswagen plans to transport about 1000 containers loaded with the componentry per month.

To participate in tender TransContainer and Schenker sent an application, due to which the Russian company will be responsible for the transportation via the Ukraine, Byelorussia and Russia, and Schenker - via Poland and Germany.

Thus the companies signed the memoramdum. TransContainer' engagement is to provide service and rolling-stock, and Schenker's - to provide cargo volume enough for a container train.

According to P.Baskakov, the companies will try to fix "the best tariffs" on rail roads of the CIS and Europe.
