POSTED: 8:19 a.m. EDT, May 7,2007
FRENCH shipping giant CMA CGM has announced the launch of the North Africa Express service between Asia and North Africa deploying seven 3,000-TEU ships with feeder services from the line's Malta hub.

The new service will call at Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Jakarta, Malta, Port Kelang, Jakarta and Chiwan.

The North Africa Express, which starts on June 15 with the sailing of the CMA CGM Jasmin, will provide connections with CMA CGM feeders to Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya via Malta offering competitive transit times, such as Chiwan to Algiers in 21 days or Shanghai to Tripoli in 24 days.

"This new service confirms our willingness to offer North African customers a high performance service," said Philippe Borel, deputy vice president Short Lines - North Africa Services.
