CSAV upgrades services from Asia to South America and South Africa

CHILE's Compania Sudamericana de Vapores (CSAV), Latin America's biggest shipping line, will offer the Asiatlantic Express (ASAX) service to the Caribbean from early June calling at the east coast of South America from Asia with a link to South Africa.

The Pacific Caribbean service (PACAR) will also be launched mid-May and will connect Asia to the Caribbean directly. The service will first run with five 1,700-TEU ships every two weeks with each vessel equipped with plugs for 200 reefer containers.



PACAR port rotation will be: Busan, Shanghai, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Manzanillo (Mexico), Puerto Quetzal, Caldera, Panama (Manzanillo), Cartagena, Rio Haina, San Juan, Puerto Cabello, Cartagena, Caldera, Puerto Quetzal and Busan.



CSAV is also enhancing its coverage of South Africa, starting in June, with the co-operation of "K" Line and with the introduction of the weekly Discovery service.



The Discovery port rotation will be: Shanghai, Ningbo, Kaohsiung, Shekou, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Klang, Colombo, Durban, Cape Town, Colombo, Port Klang, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai. There will also be additional CSAV calls in Taiwan, Shekou, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.



The ASAX service's new port rotation, from early June, will be: Ningbo, Shanghai, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Santos, Buenos Aires, Paranagua, Itajai, Santos, Durban, Singapore and Ningbo.



CSAV's existing ANDEX service will continue offering direct access to Mexico and Central America.
