GT Nexus has landed a contract from Hong Kong's 3PL Kerry Logistics to launch a multi-carrier ocean shipment visibility platform over its GT Nexus portal that is designed to track and manage shipments being transported by ocean carriers.
The system will provide status information from every major ocean carrier in the Kerry Logistics network.
GT Nexus will capture shipment status data from carriers through existing integrated feeds, standardise the data and then make the information viewable online for Kerry office personnel using standard web browsers, a joint company statement said.
"We move high volumes of containerised freight for customers all over the world," said Kerry IT director Wilson Lee. "This system gives us the visibility and control we need. GT Nexus has the carrier integrations, data management processes and applications already in place which save us expense and time."
In addition to shipment tracking, the system will support other logistics management functions including event management and automated alerting for proactive container management. It will also handle electronic shipment execution with ocean carriers, web-based document exchange between customers, carriers and partners and strategic transport management capabilities like procurement and freight audit and electronic feeds of logistics data directly into complementary Kerry systems.
The platform is active now and rolling out across the Kerry Logistics network. With its head office in Hong Kong, Kerry Logistics has operations in 260 cities in the Asia Pacific region and its global network covers six continents.
