Northwest Airlines (NWA) Cargo has announced that it will be increasing its fuel surcharge for all shipments originating in the US that are bound for overseas destinations, owing to the recent spike in fuel prices.
Effective from April 26, the carrier's international bulk cargo fuel surcharge has been raised to US$0.55 per kilogram from $0.50/kg.
With regard to shipments that have not originated in the US but are still destined for overseas, in most cases the fuel surcharge will be increased by the same amount, unless it is not permitted for regulatory reasons. Any applicable surcharge will be applied in the local currency equivalent.
Domestic bulk freight and VIP surcharges will remain unchanged, a statement from the carrier said.
