Independent operator, NileDutch, has increased the frequency of its feeder service along the west African coast since the middle of April to meet increasing demand, according to a company statement.
The shipping line said that it had boosted its fleet with the addition of the 5,500-dwt Christian D to be placed on its WAF Feeder Service. The vessel will serve alongside the NileDutch Nordica.
The statement explained that the new vessel was suited to the specialist needs of the West Africa trades and would be able to carry a mixture of containers (up to a maximum of 400 TEU), mixed as well as ro-ro cargo.
The two vessels will now provide four calls each month for every destination, resulting in the doubling of frequency between Pointe Noire, Cabinda, Soyo, Boma and Matadi.
"For shippers this will mean an improved transit time and reduction in the risk of any undue dwell time," the statement added.
