The Chinese airline, Shandong Airlines has placed an order for 50 Boeing 737 aircraft worth $4.6bn (£2.7bn).
It comes as Chinese airlines have been looking to increase their fleets in order to cope with expansions of domestic air travel.
The order still requires approval from the Chinese government.
In a statement, Boeing said: "Boeing is delighted with Shandong Airlines' strong interest in the efficient 737 airplane and we continue to work with them and the Chinese government to determine the best way to meet their requirement."
More and more airlines are looking to increase the number of fuel-efficient aircraft within their fleets.
The market for 100-200 seated, narrow bodied planes and single aisled planes is expected to be worth $20trillion over the next 20 years.
