Romania's trade deficit for the first two months of the year stands at EUR 566 million, an increase of EUR 58.8 million on the same period last year.
Recent figures from the Romanian Institute of Statistics show exports amounted to EUR 8.27 billion in the first two months of the year, up 9.2 percent on January and February 2013.
Meanwhile, imports amount to EUR 8.84 billion, an increase of 9.4 percent on the same period.
Romania's trade within the EU28 in January and February included EUR 5.9 billion of exports and EUR 6.59 billion of imports, representing 71 percent of total exports and 74.6 percent of total imports.
This leaves trade outside the EU28 tallying some EUR 2.3 billion in exports and EUR 2.2 billion of imports.
Breaking down the first two months of international trade, exports comprised 41.4 percent transport equipment and vehicles, 32.8 percent other manufactured products, 8.5 percent food, beverages and tobacco, 7.1 percent fuel and lubricants, 5.2 percent chemicals and 5 percent raw materials.
Meanwhile, imports included 34.6 percent transport equipment and vehicles, 29.7 percent other manufactured goods, 14.2 chemicals, 10.9 percent fuel and lubricants, 7.3 percent food, tobacco and beverages and 3.3 percent raw materials.
