Report by Odisha Diary bureau, Bhubaneswar: Trade fairs, conferences, business events, economic forums and exhibitions are sophisticated platforms for conducting business on a national and international scale. It is more than just a marketing tool as the entire marketplace is at the fingertips. As a source of market information they fulfill the marketing and technology needs in a centralized way.
In view of the importance of Exhibitions and Trade fairs Government of Odisha has issued a notification to conduct such trade fairs on annual basis and the second edition of the trade fair would be conducted from 01.01.2014 to 07.01.2014 in IDCO Exhibition ground in the name and style of Odisha MSME International Trade Fair 2014 by MSME Department Government of Odisha jointly with NSIC. Large number of low cost technologies would be demonstrated in the trade fair which would be helpful for the youth who would like to become self employed. The theme of the fair this year would be technology for self employment.
Exhibitions help in promotion, marketing and publicity efforts of participating enterprises especially to MSMEs as the micro and small enterprises find it difficult to give publicity to their products in print and electronic media due to financial constraints.
Exhibitions also lead to joint ventures, tie-ups and they also help bring in investments. Such events bring all the potential buyers at a single platform wherein they have an access to entire gamut of products and technologies. The tools of the exhibition industry like live demonstration, product launches, touch and feel of the product, networking opportunities, etc., all further foster sales.
A preparatory meeting was held chaired by Dr Damodar Rout,Minister Health &FW and MSME on last Tuseday .The meeting emphasized on adequate publicity regarding this fair,so that large number of unemployed youths of the State could attend to gather knowledge on establishing micro , small and medium industries. Low cost technology demonstration to attract the youth and guiding them to become self employed. The students from technical institutions would be invited to take advantage of the presence of large number of MSMEs of various types.
The presence of large number of Financial Institutions would be helpful in guiding the MSMEs in solving their credit requirement problems and guiding them with their new products. To enrich the marketing skills of the micro, small & medium entrepreneurs . B2B interaction by bringing mother plants/ large buyers/Government Departments and micro, small & medium enterprises together at one platform for assured marketing tie ups. The State of Gujarat is joining the fair in a big way apart from enterprises from all over the country. A few international participants from the countries like Bhutan, South Africa, Hungary, EU, Czech Republic are expected to participate. Among others Panchanan Dash Secretary MSME and other departmental officers attended the meeting.
