European Commission spends US$430 million to fund transport projects

The European Commission will fund 106 transport projects throughout the EU with EUR320 million (US$430 million) as part of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) Programme Calls, reports American Shipper.
Under last year's programme, 52 projects received EUR230 million. Of these, 10 were part of the rail system, six were air traffic projects while the biggest amount - EUR78.1 million - went to 15 highways and sea projects.
The 2013 Annual Programme Call provided EUR90.7 million to 54 projects including 27 undertakings involving the implementation of TEN-T work, and 27 projects geared toward promoting infrastructure innovation.
