Scania will deliver 150 city buses to the public transport authority in Cairo, Egypt. "This is Scania's first city bus delivery in the country, and marks a strong return to the Egyptian market," says Magnus J Andersson, Scania's Sales Manager for Egypt.
The Scania buses K 3101B 4x2 with automatic gearchanging are built for 35 seated passengers with ample space for standing. They will be delivered in cooperation with EAMCO over the coming six months.
This delivery forms part of a major bus fleet renewal programme by the Cairo Transport Authority. The new high-quality buses are built for safety, durability and heavy-duty performance, which are essential for the roads and climate in Egypt.
Over the past few years, Scania and its distributor in Egypt, SMG Engineering Automotive Company, have successfully worked together to strengthen Scania's market position. "This deal is a great opportunity to reignite business in the Egyptian public transport sector," says Nazmy Wassef, General Manager and responsible for SMG's Scania sales in Egypt. "Our strength comes from delivering world-class support to our customers."
Meanwhile, Scania has recently successfully delivered trucks to major customers in the haulage, construction, and refuse collection sectors, such as ExxonMobil, Misr Petroleum, The Arab Contractors and the Qalyoub Governorate.
To further strengthen its support to Scania customers, SMG has opened new modern workshop facilities in Cairo.
