Manjula Rangarajan, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), chaired a meeting with freight customers to discuss freight loading projections for the year 2014-15 in the city on Thursday.
Senior officials of the division thanked the customers for helping the division achieve its highest-ever loading of 9.765 million tonnes (mt) in the last fiscal. They assured the customers of ensuring speedy movement of goods trains and requested the customers to reduce detention of rakes at their end.
The officials also assured customers to redress freight-related issues immediately. Infrastructural improvements and maintenance at sidings, incentives for incremental traffic and payment of demurrage were also discussed. The meeting was attended by officials of cement and power industries and Karaikal Port.
