As technology companies continue the move towards open standards for ticketing platforms, the Open Standard for Public Transport (OSPT) Alliance today announced that Morpho (Safran) has joined the organization as a Full Member. Morpho is a global leader in the security market. Its biometric products are sold worldwide, along with its terminals and smart card solutions.
"The OSPT Alliance is pleased to welcome Morpho," said Laurent Cremer, Executive Director for the OSPT Alliance. "The company's track record of innovation and extensive experience in multiservice ticketing solutions make it a valuable addition to our membership. We're delighted to work with them on open standards projects."
Morpho is a high-technology company of Safran, a leading international technology group that focuses on aerospace, defense, and security. Morpho's security expertise makes it a market leader in its own right. As a pioneer in identification and detection systems, and a major player in smart card solutions, the industry recognizes Morpho for its outstanding core technologies, advanced skills, and benchmark expertise.
With systems operating in more than 100 countries, Morpho's solutions simplify and secure the lives of people around the world.
"Security will only continue to grow in importance," said Paolo Villasco, Vice President and General Manager Banking Business Unit within Morpho's Business Solutions Division. "We expect open standards to result in flexible, cost-effective solutions that can adapt as threats evolve over time. At the same time, we can improve convenience for users and more operational benefits for transit customers. We are excited to join the OSPT Alliance and look forward to rich collaboration with other members."
The OSPT Alliance offers the CIPURSE open security standard to address transit authorities' need for future-proof fare collection systems with advanced security. As an open standard, CIPURSE promotes vendor neutrality and cross-vendor system interoperability with reduced technology adoption risks, higher quality and improved market responsiveness-all of which can result in lower operating costs and greater flexibility for transport system operators. CIPURSE also offers a global basis for rapidly migrating transit fare systems to NFC-enabled mobile phones and other devices, and the standard supports the adoption of NFC transit applications for a truly future-proof solution.
