Southwestern China's Chengdu city has received approval from the government for setting up a bonded logistics centre in the city's airport, which will be operational in the first half of the year, Xinhua reports.
Chengdu Airport Bonded Logistics Centre is one of the seven bonded logistics centres that are recently approved by Beijing. According to its development plan, the facility will cover 90 square metres, offering bonded warehousing, international transport, processing and other value-added services for imports, exports and re-exports.
The facility, like others of the same kind in China, is granted a number of preferential policies in tax rebate and foreign currency exchange. Exporters can get tax rebate if their shipments were accepted into the bonded logistics centre.
Chengdu Airport Bonded Logistics Centre is expected to be a significant supporting facility of the Chengdu airport. It will help the airport better cater for international transport demand and help turn the airport into a significant hub.
