The Spanish Association of Manufacturers and Exporters of Equipment and Services for the Railway Industry (MAFEX), in collaboration with the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX), will be coordinating a trade delegation to Egypt and Turkey in May 7th-11th.
With this business trip, MAFEX wants to boost Spanish rail technology exports and services associated to two emerging countries where significant investments for the modernization of transport networks are planned.
Egypt: rail safety upgrade and network enlargement
The Spanish rail industry will be visiting Egypt to show its interest in collaborating in the development of the country's transport network. Among the plans of the Egyptian National Railways (ENR) are the signaling systems upgrade projects to improve safety operation in such lines as Bani Suef-Asiut. These initiatives are included in the Egyptian National Railways Restructuring Project (ENRRP).
Possible future plans would include a high-speed line connecting touristic sites, and the construction of a tunnel underneath Sinai.
