HKIA buoyant as air cargo volumes surge

Cargo throughput at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) grew by more than 35% during the first six months of the year, with volumes surging to a new record of more than two million tonnes.

Airport Authority Hong Kong reported that all HKIA's key air cargo markets posted double-digit growth in June, as exports jumped 40% year-on-year.

Exports to Europe and North America increased by 44% and 81%, respectively, as the global economy continues to rebound.
