Aircraft fairing panel falls off

2010-2-9

A six-metre panel from an Atlas Air freighter fell into a shopping mall car park in Miami on Friday.

Nobody in the area was injured and the B747F, flying from Santiago in Chile to Miami International Airport, landed safely.

"The fairing came to rest in a parking lot of a nearby shopping mall," said a statement from Atlas, which is investigating the cause of the incident.

"We understand no one was injured and that there was no property damage."
