Damco dismisses talk of sale

2009-7-2

Senior executives at AP Moller-Maersk's forwarding and logistics group Damco have denied rumours it is up for sale.

Following the announcement of the merger of Maersk Logistics and Damco at the beginning of September, rumours that the Danish conglomerate was preparing to sell the division have been growing louder.

However, in a recent memo to staff, Maersk Logistics CEO Rolf Habben-Jansen denies the group was looking to sell the division to competitors ¨C and he named Kuehne + Nagel.

He told staff he "would like to stress that there is no truth whatsoever in the rumours", and that the reason for going with the Damco brand rather than Maersk Logistics, was that it was imperative to establish a brand independent of its parent.
