GERMAN logistics giant DB Schenker has recently signed a global lease with Envirotainer AB, a Sweden-based provider of active temperature-controlled air cargo containers.
The deal allows Schenker to expand temperature controlled logistics, said a company statement. Using Envirotainer's specialised equipment, knowledge and expertise, the new service will be applied mostly to the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, but also to industries with sensitive products, said Schenker.
"This new form of cooperation will leverage our performance for our healthcare customers in secure and temperature controlled supply chain," said Schenker chairman Thomas Lieb. "With our air, ocean, land and rail transport services we already offer customers a single source for high-quality integrated cold chain solutions, connecting the markets in Europe, the Americas, and in Asia-Pacific."
Said Envirotainer CEO Thomas Persson: "It is exciting to see how the local partnership that DB Schenker and Envirotainer had for years in different regions of the world in place, has grown to a global partnership between our companies."
