In the first half of 2008, China's software industry achieved total revenue of RMB346 billion (around NZ$69 billion) - an increase of 30.4% compared to the same period last year.
Figures from the China Copyright Protection Center show that China handled 14,540 software registrations in the first half of 2008, including 13,999 software copyright registrations.
Beijing was ranked first with 5,053 software registrations, followed by Guangdong Province and Shanghai with 1,910 and 1,428 registrations respectively.
The Chinese government has also published a list of 162 certified key software enterprises which are eligible for reduced Corporate Income Tax rate at 10% - much lower than the normal rate of 25% levied on most enterprises in China.
Beijing again tops the list with 33 key software enterprises, followed by Shanghai (23) and Guangdong (22). |
