Northwest considers compensation claim for Heathrow move delay

2008-6-7

Northwest Airlines is considering making a compensation claim against BAA for delays caused by the delayed transfer of long haul flights by British Airways to Heathrow Terminal 5, the Travel Trade Gazette reports.

The US airline is reported to believe that it can put a monetary value on the inconvenience caused to its operations and passengers by the knock-on effect of BA delaying the move of all its flights to T5 after the disastrous opening in March.

Northwest¡¯s vice-president for alliances, Nat Pieper, told the newspaper: ¡®Our passengers are disadvantaged in service and efficiency terms. We can put figures on that. We need BAA to co-operate not only with solving BA¡¯s problems. We have issues too and they need to pay attention to ours as well.¡¯
