TNT mobilises fleet to deliver Myanmar aid

TNT Express will use 22 of its trucks to deliver 150 tonnes of aid to Myanmar in support of Cyclone Nargis victims.

The relief supplies will be collected from the Royal Thai Army in Bangkok and trucked to Tak Province and then into Myanmar.

With its vast experience and in emergency response assistance, TNT has been on standby to provide support since the cyclone struck the Irrawaddy Delta.

"We are working with the Royal Thai Army to deliver much-needed goods and supplies that have been collected for the cyclone victims via our extensive ground network," said Alan Miu, country general manager, TNT Express Worldwide (Thailand).

"This will ensure that the aid gets to those in need in the fastest and most efficient manner possible."

TNT is operates an extensive domestic road network throughout Thailand, providing an express delivery service with time-definite solutions with the ability to track shipment's status by utilising the company's 24 hour Track and Trace system.

TNT has partnered with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) since 2002, helping to feed over one million school children and tackling more than 30 emergencies.

Together with industry peers UPS and Agility, TNT has also developed Logistics Emergency Teams to lend a collective hand to humanitarian organisations in natural disaster zones.
