Opportunity for more F&B exports to Philippines

2008-6-4

The Philippines largest supermarket chain is looking to expand its selection of imported food and beverage products.

This could provide scope for New Zealand companies to provide shelf-stable grocery items to the expanding SM supermarket chain.

SM boasts 23 supermarkets and 11 hypermarkets.

It also has a neighbourhood chain branded as Savemore supermarkets. They are smaller in size and are located outside SM malls.

There are currently eight Savemore branches and there are plans to grow this number to 15 by 2009.

Savemore prides itself on providing a great merchandise selection, convenience and excellent customer service.
