Police checks for motorists at Edinburgh Airport today

2008-6-26

The Police are carrying out a series of road checks on the main Edinburgh Airport approach road today. Between 11:00 and 14:00, officers from the airport, road policing and road safety will stop cars at random to check roadworthiness. As part of the road checks, drivers will also be asked to produce their driving documents.

A police spokeswoman said: 'The aim of these road checks is to remind motorists of the importance of keeping their vehicles roadworthy and safe. We're hoping it will act as a warning to all drivers that anyone using an unsafe vehicle is likely to be stopped and charged with road traffic offences. We appreciate this operation may cause a minor delay for some motorists, and would ask drivers to be patient.'
