Two large beverage companies have reinforced the trend towards ethical sourcing in the past week.
PG Tips tea and Kenco Coffee announced an increase in the number of Rainforest Alliance-approved products in their ranges.
McDonald's UK recently switched supply from Tetley tea to PG Tips, citing ethical reasons as the motivation.
Kenco's parent company, Kraft Foods, announced this week that by the end of the year, three-quarters of the company's coffee range will be Rainforest Alliance certified, with the remainder to be certified by 2010.
This reflects changing consumer demand.
Kenco notes "consumers are increasingly demanding high-quality, sustainably-sourced products". |
