Paris hosted the most recent JEC Composites show and broke attendance records.
There were 1,053 exhibitors who welcomed more than 27,000 visitors from 96 countries. This is a 13 percent increase on last year.
Environment and innovation in manufacturing were the central themes of this year¡¯s show.
Composites specialists are positive about the future, despite the industry being highly influenced by fuel prices.
Canada, the United States, India, Germany and China showcased impressive national pavilions and, in 2009, JEC will also welcome Japan among its exhibitors.
A key event during the show was the innovation awards programme. Six months prior to the fair, companies can pitch their innovations to a jury in multiple categories.
In the construction and equipment category, the Australians Ayres Composite Panels and Colbeck & Gunton, in partnership with Thermal Ceramics (UK) won the award for their fire-insulation panels along with a full assembly of mounting system.
Next year in Paris, the eight competition categories will be: aeronautics and space; automotive and vehicles; construction and equipment; energy and industry; environment; process, sports and leisure; and software.
There is not cost to enter and awards result in publicity.
JEC Composites Asia will be held from 22-24 October.
The next Paris show is 24-26 March, 2009. |
