Firefighters are preparing to strike over pay at ten airports in the Highlands and Islands and Northern Isles. The Unite union said today that it has given the Scottish Government-owned Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL) notice of industrial on 23 June and 4 July.
The union called off action planned for 9 June in order to hold further talks with the company. Unite members have rejected a 2% wage increase backdated to last October.
The strike action will not be staged at Inverness Airport. However, flights between Inverness and Stornoway, Kirkwall and Sumburgh airports may be disrupted. |
