2008-5-24

ESS, the leading provider of Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) and Crisis Management software for enterprise sustainability, today announced that it has launched a major global initiative to provide packaged solutions to address five urgent business challenges: Climate Change, Worker Health and Safety, Environmental Compliance, Crisis Management and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reporting.

ESS' solutions deliver market-ready information management systems to target customer and industry requirements. To support its initiative, ESS has created a new Solution Practice department that is led by ESS Vice President Dorney Douglass, an EHS-MIS veteran, and anchored by a team of industry experts who will help organizations address their urgent business challenges.

"With this initiative, ESS is taking the lead in providing innovative solutions to customers and to our partner ecosystem," said Robert Johnson, ESS President and CEO. "ESS shares a common vision and understanding with EH&S practitioners regarding the adoption of best practices and automated tools needed to support solid corporate EH&S risk management. ESS solutions will expand the functionality and interoperability capabilities of our information technology to deliver cutting-edge products that provide complete EH&S support to our customers and partners."

ESS also announced the appointment of the following Solution Practice leaders:

-- David Cox, P.E., Vice President, Sustainability Solutions. Cox is
responsible for solutions addressing Corporate Social Responsibility data
management and reporting. He has more than 15 years experience in
environmental engineering, business development and EH&S software sales

    information management systems.

Change. Ladner, who will lead the new GHG initiative, has nearly 15 years
software product management, product development, strategic planning
experience and has established a strong reputation for developing
innovative, holistic software solutions for business management.

will lead efforts to align ESS software technology with market and customer
enterprise IT requirements. Modesitt, who joined ESS in 2006 as a senior
product manager, is a nationally-recognized EH&S data management expert who
is known for development of systems that streamline EH&S compliance. He has
more than 17 years experience providing technology solutions for
interoperability, data quality and business intelligence and more.

ESS Solution Practice leaders have proven experience delivering customer-focused solutions and extensive experience assessing how organizations can benefit from the latest EH&S technology.

The first offering to be released is the ESS GHG/Carbon Management Solution, an integrated platform with powerful tools to help executives manage and communicate GHG data for products, supply chain and facilities from the plant floor to the boardroom. It offers organizations the flexibility to implement solutions that can quickly establish GHG inventories, a critical first step in GHG management, and then implement a phased approach to incorporate tools to verify the accuracy of emissions data and the effectiveness of management systems.

"These solutions are being built on our global sustainability platform, enabling new and existing customers to leverage their investments in ESS software. Our integrated, modular and scalable architecture allows our development team to create solution sets utilizing existing Internet protocol thereby reducing client costs and enabling the highest degree of data integration, data quality and data integrity," Johnson said.
