Signal offences drop 60%, RTA says

2008-5-19

The number of motorists jumping red lights has dropped by 60% at all traffic signals where a flashing green light has been introduced in Dubai, the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) said on Sunday.

In July last year the RTA began to introduce a flashing green light prior to the amber light in the stop sequence at traffic signals across the emirate, with the new sequence becoming standard at all intersections in February.

The RTA said red signal offences at intersections dropped from around 4,000 in July 2007 to around 1,000 in March of this year.
