NZ F&B companies exposed at FHA 2008

2008-5-16

Nearly 30 New Zealand companies were among the 2,600 exhibitors at the Food and Hotel Asia 2008 expo recently.

Of the 27 NZ exhibitors, seven were under the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise-supported New Zealand pavilion.

The show was bigger than ever before with 2,600 exhibitors and approximately 53,000 visitors from around 70 countries.

The event provided an opportune setting to showcase new products in the food and beverage and hotel/restaurant industry sectors.

It also provided important networking opportunities for the participants.

Feedback from trade visitors and the general public at the New Zealand stands was positive and focused on the clean, fresh and innovative F&B products that were featured at the expo.

The New Zealand participants found FHA 2008 to be useful in creating product awareness and finding the right partners in the right markets to tackle the south east Asian market.

New Zealander Carl Sara became the Asia Barista Champion in the inaugural Asia Barista Championship event held at the expo.

He beat out contestants from 12 participating countries.

Sara also won the award for Best Latte Art and Best Blended Signature Beverage.

Other featured events included FHA2008 Culinary Challenge, FHA Imperial Challenge, Asian Pastry Cup 2008 and Wine & Spirits Asia Challenge 2008.
