CMA CGM offers new maritime training course in Marseilles

2008-5-13

CMA CGM has announced the creation of a new maritime training programme based in Marseilles, France from this September.

The programme for professionals was devised by the French shipping group, along with France's Affaires Maritimes and the Armateurs de France association.

The courses are intended to meet the changing needs of shipowners, and are being added to the basic training offered by National Merchant Navy Schools, a company statement said.

Graduates of the two-year course with the ENMM (National Merchant Navy School) in Marseilles will receive a state-recognised diploma leading to a deck officer certificate of competency after 12 months of navigation experience.

A third year, still to be added to the programme, will prepare students for the unlimited tonnage master's licence.

"CMA CGM will be bringing 20 young graduates into the group for their last year of training," said.

Admission files are available at www.hydro-marseille.com. The admission deadline is May 31.
