The Suez Canal Authority said on Sunday it would raise its transit fees in 2008 by between 4.2% and 14.7%, with an average of 7.1%, taking effect in April.
Chairman Ahmed Ali Fadel told a news conference the increases reflect forecasts of a continuing global economic boom, especially in China and India.
